These devices  are individually crafted based on a precise cast or scan of the patient’s lower leg and foot, ensuring a personalized fit.This customization allows for optimal comfort, support, and control, addressing the unique anatomical needs of each patient.

Typically made from thermoplastic materials, carbon fiber, or a combination of both, providing durability and strength. Liners and padding are often incorporated for increased comfort and to prevent skin irritation.

Custom articulating AFOs are commonly prescribed for individuals with:

Foot Drop:

  • Weakness or paralysis of the muscles that lift the foot, often caused by stroke, nerve injury, or neurological conditions.

Ankle Instability:

  • Ligamentous laxity or weakness resulting in excessive ankle movement.

Neurological Conditions:

  • Cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological disorders that affect muscle tone and motor control.

Post-Stroke Rehabilitation:

  • To improve gait and prevent contractures.

Post-Traumatic Injuries:

  • Following fractures or other injuries to the ankle or foot.

Mild to Moderate Spasticity:

  • Where some ankle motion control is needed, but complete immobilization is not.

Conditions requiring controlled ankle motion:

  • Such as certain types of arthritis.
